Exchange: Akita International University

Akita International University (AIU), located in  Akita prefecture in the Tohoku region of northern Japan, is a leading liberal arts university. AIU has been recognized as one of the top universities in Japan for its humanities education and innovative approach, offering a unique academic experience. At AIU, all courses are taught in English and in small class sizes, encouraging students to work closely with teacher and high engagement in class. On top of that, the Akita prefecture is known for its natural beauty of mountains and the sea, hotsprings and the town of Kakunodate, which preserves one of Japan’s most interesting samurai (warriors of premodern Japan) districts.
