For how long did you stay abroad?

2 months

Why did you choose to learn abroad?

I decided to go on a research exchange because it was a great opportunity to travel while also gaining professional experience.

What are the specific skills that you learned or developed?

Independence: learning to book my own flights, rent an apartment, cook etc.

Initiative: working on a self-directed research project taught me how to plan a work day and set my own goals and deadlines

What benefits did you get from the experience?

I was able to meet new people, expand my knowledge in engineering research, and travel A LOT which made it an amazing experience.

Please, name 2 challenges that you faced and how you overcame them in your experience.

One challenge was learning how to get around in a new place, but I was able to get a bike in Sweden which made it so much easier to do things like buy groceries and get to the lab everyday.

Another challenge was learning how to cook for myself, but the other students and I would get together and learn to make new dishes which helped me in the next year when I was living alone.

Would you recommend learning abroad to a friend? Why?

I would recommend going abroad because it’s a chance to see the world and live life to the fullest while also becoming more independent and improving your professional skills.
