Why did you choose to learn abroad?
To grow spiritually, learn more about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and connect more with friends and family in Israel
What are the specific skills that you learned or developed?
Extensive knowledge about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from a variety of sources, intercultural knowledge from touring different areas and engaging with students from all over the world, adaptability skills from quickly moving to a new environment.
What benefits did you get from the experience?
I gained a lot personally, both spiritually and in interpersonal relationships. My hands on experiences greatly helped build my knowledge of the surrounding conflicts.
Please, name 2 challenges that you faced and how you overcame them in your experience.
Living with roommates was difficult as this is not something I am used to. In the end, I greatly grew from the experience, learned to work with my roommates, and even became great friends with one of them. Other than that, I actually had much fewer challenges than I have here, as it was an environment where I felt much more accepted for my identity.
My hands on experiences greatly helped build my knowledge of the surrounding conflicts.
Would you recommend learning abroad to a friend? Why?
Absolutely. This was a major growth opportunity for me, as well as an opportunity to travel abroad while still being a part of U of T.
