Summer Research Exchange: Masaryk University

Masaryk University, located in Brno, is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic and the leading higher education institution in Moravia. At present it comprises nine faculties with over 200 departments, institutes and clinics, and is recognized as one of the most important teaching and research institutions in the Czech Republic and a highly-regarded Central European university. 

Nominated U of T students will be enrolled in the Research Lab Internship Program with projects offered by various research institutes at Masaryk University. 

This opportunity is only available through pre-approved research course CSB397Y0 or PCL397Y0. 

2026 research projects can be viewed HERE in October/November and complete projects list will be finalized in January.

Program fee: there’s a program fee that includes accommodation, breakfasts, weekend travels and academic trips. U of T students will receive a €400 EUR partner discount, and an additional €100 EUR early bird discount if full application is submitted by the early bird deadline. Students have the option to opt out of accommodation. If they choose to do so, they should indicate this in their application and the program fee will be reduced. 

Application Process:

  1. Submit CIE application by November 23, 2025. 
  2. Applications will be reviewed by the relevant U of T department 
  3. Successful candidates will receive CIE nomination (SREP is a competitive program and nomination is not guaranteed) 
  4. Nominated students submit partner application following the guideline
  5. Accepted students will receive further instructions 

**Partner application guideline:

  1. Review research projects and identify your interested project
  2. Start online application and submit all required documents:      
  •           CV
  •           passport copy
  •           motivational letter
  •           personal photo
  •           brief statement of purpose

    3. Submitted application will be forwarded to relevant project supervisor, who may request a call to discuss further

    4. Applicants receive notification, if accepted, students will receive a link to pay the first non-refundable payment and instructions on the next steps. Students have 2 weeks to commit, after this time, their project may be given to another student. University of Toronto students are eligible for a partner discount of €400 off the full fee.
