HKU has been organising the Summer Research Programme since 2021 to groom research talents. During the 10-week programme, participants will by supervised by one of HKU professoriate staff to plan and carry out a research project, present their project proposal and outcome, and attend a series of tailor-made research related workshops and seminars. Summer Research Credit:
Arts & Science (St. George/UTM/UTSC): Check the host institution offers research projects in your field. Students must enroll in an Independent Research (or similar) course in the equivalent department at UofT. There will be no transcript issued by the host institution. Students must have completed 3+ years of study before the exchange. Please indicate the course code in the Study Plan section of the Learning Abroad application.
Applied Science and Engineering: Students may pursue research on a not-for-credit basis. Students will pay incidental fees but no tuition fee with this option. Students can apply the summer research hours towards their practical experience requirement. There will be no transcript issued by the host institution.
Research projects: possible research areas
Specific funding available: Upon satisfactory completion of the programme, a scholarship/financial support of up to HK$20,000 (~3,460 CAD) will be awarded to participants to subsidize the travel and accommodation cost.
Housing: On-campus housing is not available.
