Aga Khan University‘s International Internship Programme offers on-site, hybrid and virtual internships to students around the world. Internships are full-time (35 hours/week) and range in duration.

What’s Included
The program fee is $1500USD and covers:
- 2 months of shared accommodation in AKU accommodations
- Daily Transportation To and from work (for students residing at AKU-provided accommodation only)
- Assistance with internship logistics, safety and security (on-site)
- Welcome Package:
- Local SIM card with one-month data and minutes
- Welcome Breakfast or Lunch with fellow interns and programme coordinators
- 7-day Meal Vouchers
- AKU Merchandise
- Full-day historical and cultural excursion(s) in host country
- Airport Transfers
- Access to a holistic Professional Development Curriculum that entails:
- Internship Completion Certificate
Please note that while most of the internships are based in Kenya, the International Internship Program occasionally offers internship positions in other locations.

Co-Curricular Record
While this is an independent internship, as a partner of the University of Toronto, this experience is still approved for Co-Curricular Record (CCR). Requirements to get the experience CCR verified will be sent to successful applicants. For questions contact global.el@utoronto.ca.

Safety Abroad
While these internships are independent through AKU, as a partner of UofT, these internships are still considered university-related, and nominated students will need to complete the Safety Abroad requirements before departure. Please note that undergraduate students are not permitted to travel to locations considered “Avoid non-essential travel” or “Avoid all travel” by Global Affairs Canada. Graduate students considering travel to such higher risk locations should contact safety.abroad@utoronto.ca to begin the process to request approval. Check the Global Affairs Canada Travel Advisory for your destination(s).
