Sorbonne University is a public university, which was officially established in 2018 following the amalgamation of Paris-Sorbonne University and Pierre and Marie Curie University though its two parent universities date far older with the Paris Sorbonne going back all the way to 1150 and the university of Paris. Notable alumni include Marie Curie, Simone de Beauvoir, Francois Mitterrand, and Vera Wang.
