As the largest private university in Japan, Nihon University provides broad range of fields of study. The university has 14 colleges and 83 departments, and it provides Japanese language course at all levels, and optional non-credit Japanese culture courses.
There are two different pathways at Nihon University, and term dates are different depending on the pathway.
(a) Japanese-Language and Japanese Studies Program (JLSP)
JLSP is a comprehensive Japanese language program for students who want to improve their Japanese language skills. It is a short-term intensive program. Please refer to JLSP Application Guide and Brochure.
Fall: Sept-Dec
Winter: Jan-Mar
(b) General Exchange
Courses are taught in Japanese at Nihon University. General Exchange option is open to students who have achieved JLPT N1 or N2 level. Please refer to list of departments at Nihon University.
Fall: Sept-Jan
Winter: Apr-Aug
Full Year: Sept-Aug
General Exchange is only open for Full Year or Winter. Nihon University’s General Exchange for Fall term does not align with U of T’s term dates. If you have any questions, please email learning.abroad@utoronto.ca.
Credit equivalency: 31 credits= 5.0 UofT credits
Restricted Programs: School of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Department of Veterinary Medicine, Graduate School of Social and Cultural Studies, and Law School.
Housing: On-campus housing is guaranteed.
