Based on the European side of the Bosphorus strait in Istanbul, Türkiye, Bogazici University is one of the top 500 universities in the world. Classes are taught in English, something which can be traced back to the university’s origin as Robert College, the first American higher education institution to be founded outside of the US. Although now entirely run by the local administration, the university retains some ties to America. Bogazici University’s vision is achieving international excellence in education and research and becoming a green, sustainable university. Students can take courses in areas such as History and other areas of Humanities, and must select courses in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
