The Centre for International Experience (CIE) has awards and funding opportunities available for your learning abroad experience. Please carefully read the information below before you begin working on your application. You can also check out other resources and tips for funding, budgeting, and external award opportunities:

Are you a U of T student going on an exchange abroad through CIE?

You may be eligible for the International Experience (IE) Award. The IE Award is a needs-based monetary award for U of T students participating in a university-sanctioned Learning Abroad Program through the Centre for International Experience.

Are you a U of T student going on a learning abroad experience, through other departments at U of T?

You may be eligible for the International Experience (IE+) Award. The IE+ Award is a needs-based monetary award for U of T students participating in a university-sanctioned Learning Abroad Experience, such as research, courses, international conference or professional experience, organized or coordinated by any division at U of T and not through the Centre for International Experience (i.e. Summer Abroad, Rotman MBA Exchange, Reach Alliance).

Are you going abroad with the Mitacs Globalink Research Award?

This award offers funding for senior undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows to conduct 12–24-week research projects at U of T and abroad.
