As a leading liberal arts university in Japan, Akita International University (AIU) has been recognized as one of the top universities in Japan for its humanities education and innovative approach. The AIU Summer Program is a six-week, intensive Japanese language program designed for highly motivated undergraduate students around the world. Participants can take elementary courses taught by experienced Japanese instructors to hone their Japanese language skills in a small class environment. Progress in Japanese may vary depending on student needs. The courses are designed for Absolute Beginner to Advanced Beginner learners. In addition to Japanese language courses, students can participate in Japanese Cultural Workshops and Field Trips.
Credit equivalency
Students will complete 6 AIU credits (1.0 FCE UofT).

Housing
Housing is guaranteed, and housing fee is included in the program fee. Find more information here.
Fees
Tuition fee (equivalent to 1.0 FCE) is paid to UofT. Tuition fees are waived for Summer School Exchange students. Students must still pay the rest of the AIU Summer program fee (approx. JPY 260,000) to AIU. The Program Fee includes housing, meals, (3 meals per day at AIU), bedding, room cleaning, and field trips.
