UTM Abroad Academic Experiences: UK

This course explores English drama from the death of Queen Elizabeth I to the closing of the theaters, with attention to such playwrights as Jonson, Middleton, Shakespeare, and Webster. Students will have a chance to see drama performed in modern reconstructions of historical early playhouses, including the outdoor Globe theater, the Bankside Rose Theater, and the indoor Wanamaker Playhouse; to tour historically significant neighborhoods in London; to visit museums and learn about the history of London and the British isles more generally; and to visit the birthplace of Shakespeare, now also the home of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
