Technology is at the heart of all disciplines at TU Darmstadt; the Natural Sciences as well as Social Sciences and Humanities cooperate closely with Engineering. Founded in 1887, Darmstadt has consistently led German universities in the introduction of new scientific disciplines; for example, the university is famous for being the first in the world to establish a faculty of electrical engineering. The International Summer University exchange program combines Engineering and German language, and includes cross-cultural training specialized for engineers!

Courses & Activities: Along with engineering courses, you can also take intensive German language courses (A1, A2, and B1 levels offered), take part in cross-cultural competencies training for engineers, and participate in various social and cultural events, including excursions around the Hessen region.
- Weeks 1 & 2: Automotive Engineering OR Aeronautical Engineering
- Weeks 3 & 4: Mechatronic Engineering OR Production Engineering
Credit equivalency: 5.0 U of T credits = 60. Students must complete at least 6 ECTS.
Housing: Housing costs for shared two-person rooms with a kitchenette are included in the program fees.
Additional Information: Program fees cover company visits, cross-cultural competencies training for engineers, course materials, social activities and excursions, tickets for public transportation, insurance, student services, & accommodation.
While the exchange program option (and tuition waiver) is only open for German Engineering and Language, University of Toronto students are welcome to apply to other summer programs at, and pay tuition directly to, TU Darmstadt.
Note: This program may be most useful to students with an interest in, or previous knowledge of, Mechanical Engineering. However, students in similar subject areas are also welcome to apply.
