The University of Liverpool is a dynamic, welcoming institution and a member of the prestigious Russell Group (representing 24 of the UK’s leading research universities). Located in the beautiful port city of Liverpool, this university is part of the fastest growing economy outside of London and with more galleries and green spaces than any other city outside of London.
Students can participate in the Summer Research Programme with projects in various disciplines including engineering, science, social science and humanities (projects subject to change).
Please note that this destination is only available through the not-for-credit pathway.
Research projects in 2026 will be available to view HERE in December.

Application Process:
1) Submit CIE application by the deadline (to be announced)
2) Pre-approval from a project supervisor is preferred. Please reach out directly to potential supervisors (contact can be found in the projects list here):
- ∗ provide your CV and academic record
- ∗ express your interest in the project
- ∗ seek pre-approval from the faculty member
3) Complete online application on the host university’s portal HERE by the deadline. Please refer to the application guide for instructions (application guide will be provided when projects are announced). **Academic record downloaded from ACORN is acceptable as transcript for your online application. Please contact goUOL@liverpool.ac.uk if you have additional questions about completing the online application.
4) Please upload proof of your Liverpool application and supervisor pre-approval (if received) to CIE application portal Mobility Online (combine documents in one PDF file and upload to the “partner application” stage).
5) Successful applicants will receive CIE nomination. Preferences will be given to those who have received pre-approval from supervisors.
6) Nominated students might be asked to do an online interview with the potential supervisor.
7) Accepted students will receive admission letter and further instructions from the host university.
