Summer Research Exchange: Technical University of Denmark

Founded in 1829 with the mission of creating value for the benefit of society, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is an international elite technical university where education, scientific advice, and innovation rest on a solid foundation of world-class research. The University is at the academic and multidisciplinary forefront of the technical and the natural sciences with new initiatives in a number of demanding engineering disciplines, including sustainable energy technology and life science. Students can participate in projects in various Engineering disciplines.

This Opportunity is only open to students registered in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. 

DTU Summer Research Program: U of T students can participate in Research Immersion courses, Summer University courses, or reach out to DTU professors to propose project work that is not included in the course database. Students can take multiple courses that span between June and August.

There are 2 pathways for this SREP opportunity (please indicate which option you are pursuing in the Study Plan section of the Learning Abroad application): 

a) Not-for-credit (you do not pay U of T tuition or host university tuition).

b) Pre-approved research course: APS299Y0 (engineering, minimum 10 weeks of placement) (1.0 U of T credit and regular summer tuition)  

Housing: On-campus housing not guaranteed

Application Process for APS299Y0:

  1. Submit CIE application by November 23, 2025
  2. Applications will be reviewed by the relevant U of T department
  3. Successful candidates will receive CIE nomination (SREP is a competitive program and nomination is not guaranteed)
  4. Nominated students will be invited to complete DTU online application by the host deadline
  5. Nominated students sign up for courses on DTU portal or obtain supervisor approval 
  6. Accepted students will receive admissions letter and further instructions from DTU

Application Process for Non-credit:

  1. Identify summer courses from the database or find a potential supervisor from a list of departments and centres
  2. Submit CIE application and all supporting documents including resume, academic record, and letter of motivation (combine all documents in one PDF file and upload to the “resume” section on Mobility Online) by February 15, 2026
  3. Successful applicants will receive CIE nomination
  4. Nominated students will be invited to complete DTU online application by the host deadline
  5. Nominated students sign up for courses on DTU portal or obtain supervisor approval 
  6. Accepted students will receive admissions letter and further instructions from DTU
