A top 10 global university centered in Asia, the National University of Singapore (NUS) is Singapore’s flagship university, which offers a global approach to education and research, with a focus on Asian perspectives and expertise. NUS has 17 faculties and schools across three campuses.
NUS College of Design and Engineering offers an 8-week summer research program called SERIUS. Successful candidates will undertake internships at NUS CDE labs in Singapore. Students should preferably be in their junior year, but sophomores who are motivated and academically prepared, are welcome too.
In addition to developing research skills and finding out what’s at the cutting edge in engineering and technology, students learn from faculty and researchers who are experts in their field in a different culture and environment, at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
This opportunity is only available through the not-for-credit pathway.
Summer 2026 Program Dates: May 20 – July 15, 2026.
Summer 2026 Research Projects: full list will be available on SERIUS website by November 17th.
Research disciplines include Biomedical Engineering, Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Engineering Design, and Mechanical Engineering.
Housing: On-campus Accommodation (single room at hostels located within campus). Check-in dates/times: May 18th from 2pm-6pm and May 19th from 8am-6pm. Check-out date is July 16th before 12pm.

Application Process:
- Review projects and identify 3 projects that you’d like to apply in the order of preference
- Submit CIE application no later than January 8, 2026
- Fill out the online NUS interest form and upload supporting documents (resume and transcript) no later than January 8, 2026
- Successful applicants will receive CIE nomination
- Nominated students will receive project application feedback by late February
- Accepted students will receive instructions from NUS to complete an online application on NUS portal in early March
- Admitted students will receive admission letter and visa application instructions from the host university
