Summer Research Exchange: Karolinska Institute

Karolinska Institutet (KI) is one of the world’s leading medical universities. KI accounts for over 40 per cent of the medical academic research conducted in Sweden and offers the country’s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences. Students have participated in research abroad programs here in areas such as Human Biology and Pharmacology and Toxicology.

This experience is only available through pre-approved research course PCL397Y0 or HMB394Y0. Students can participate in projects in Biomedical Science.

Application Process:

  1. Review Research groups & leaders and identify your potential supervisor and research area
  2. Submit CIE application by November 23, 2025. 
  3. Applications will be reviewed by relevant U of T department 
  4. Successful candidates will receive CIE nomination (SREP is a competitive program and nomination is not guaranteed) 
  5. Nominated students will be contacted by the host university to:

                a) find a supervisor 

                b) complete an online application on the host university’s portal
