Summer Research Exchange: National Tsing Hua University

National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) is a national public research university in Hsinchu, Taiwan. NTHU was established in Beijing in 1911 as “Tsing Hua Academy.” In 1956, it was re-established at its present location in Hsinchu, Taiwan.

Since its relocation, NTHU has developed into a comprehensive research university offering a full range of degree programs in science, technology, engineering, humanities, social sciences, and management. NTHU consistently ranks as one of the premier universities in East Asia, and is widely recognized as a leading incubator for future leaders.

Please note that this destination is only available through the not-for-credit pathway.

Interested students should apply directly to the host institution first, then seek CIE nomination approval if application is successful. 

2026 Summer Research:

Sponsored by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) of Taiwan, the International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP) is designed to attract global research talent to engage in Taiwan’s cutting-edge academic environment. Interns will be hosted by NTHU faculty members (Principal Investigators) in laboratories aligned with their research interests.

Application Deadline for June/July start: February 13, 2026 (GMT+8)

Program Dates: Exact dates dependent on the project, students can start in June or July.

Housing: The hosting academic unit will assist in arranging on-campus accommodation.

Host funding: Living Allowance of NTD 1,000 per day (approximately NTD 30,000 per month), provided tax-free for the duration of the internship (up to 90 days).

3) Complete the online application and complete the matching process with an NTHU supervisor before the relevant deadline.
