Science Abroad: China

Please note: The Science Abroad program in China will not run in 2022.

Science Abroad allows science students to complete a research course at one of several prestigious research facilities located overseas.  Students will collaborate with colleagues from other countries, and explore problems of a global nature.  Through this experiential learning process, students will have the chance to relate their academic studies to real-world lab situations. Students will earn an HMB396Y0 credit that can be used towards their degree requirements.

This program takes place in the Cheeloo College of Medicine at Shandong University (SDU) in Jinan, China. SDU is one of the largest universities in China, with more than 60,000 students, 31 faculties, and eight campuses. SDU is regularly recognized as one of the top 20 universities in China, has four affiliated hospitals, three non-subordinate affiliated hospitals, and 11 teaching hospitals. Students will be conducting research mainly in hospital laboratories. Some research topics in SDU include Neuroscience, Infection and Immunity, and Genetics and Epigenetics.
