Zhiyuan College in conjunction with the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, are hosting the 2025 International Summer School on Physics in Shanghai from July 7th to July 18th, 2025. “The Largest and the Smallest” Physics International Summer School aims at providing undergraduate students with a strong passion in physics with a platform to gain experience with cutting-edge research while building friendships among peers.
All courses and activities will be conducted in English and will include the following:
- 32 hours of specialized courses
- A series of cutting-edge academic lectures
- Team research practice projects
- “Visit SJTU” & Shanghai exploration
- Exciting cultural and sports activities
Transfer Credit
This program is not eligible to transfer academic credit back to UofT.

Fees
There are no fees are charged for course, talks, hotel lodging and cultural activities.
Round-trip flights, meal, visas if required, and personal spending, are the responsibility of each student.
A merit-based international travel grant is available by SJTU for attendees, and will be distributed after the program. Applicants will be considered for the grant based on the CVs and letters of recommendation.
Please note that while this is an independently run summer school, UofT students who are accepted into the program and are in financial need, may also apply for the IE+ Award.
Safety Abroad
While these courses are independent through SJTU, as a partner of UofT, this program is still considered university-related, and accepted students will be required to complete the Safety Abroad requirements 4 weeks or more before departure.
