Independent Summer Program: University of Tokyo ESEP-G

ESEP – G (Engineering Summer Education Program – General) provides top-class students with short-term scientific research experience in the world-leading laboratories at University of Tokyo.

This is an independent (non-exchange) learning experience. You may apply directly to the program, and there is no nomination process through the Centre for International Experience. Read more about the independent summer programs (Non-Exchange Opportunities > Summer Experiences).

How to Apply:

  1. Apply directly to the host institution.
  2. Complete the Safety Abroad requirements (including both the Safety Abroad Registry and Workshop) prior to departure.  Only students who complete all Safety Abroad Workshop modules are eligible for IE Award+.
  3. Apply for an IE Award+ here. Please note that the processing time for IE Awards+ applications takes up to six weeks. Additionally; if you are eligible to receive an IE Award+, your award will only be paid if and when all pre-departure requirements are completed. You will not receive funds until you are at the site of your experience.
  4. After host institution approval, arrange for your visa (if applicable), book your flights and accommodation, and set off on your learning abroad experience!
