Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) stands as one of China’s most prestigious and research-intensive institutions. Established in 1896, SJTU has grown to encompass 30 schools and multiple research institutions, offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The university is dedicated to innovation, international collaboration, and cultural heritage.  It is ranked 7th in the Asia University Rankings 2024 by the Times Higher Education. 

SJTU is renowned for its strengths in engineering, materials science, and computer science, often called the “Eastern MIT” due to its historical focus on these disciplines. The university has a robust research output, featuring numerous national and international achievements, and hosts 11 state laboratories and national engineering research centers.
