Summer Research: ETH-Zurich Swiss Federal Institute of Technology

ETH Zurich is one of the leading international universities for technology and the natural sciences. It is well known for its excellent education, ground-breaking fundamental research and for implementing its results directly into practice.

 

Credit Equivalency: 5.0 credits at UofT = 60 credits

Departmental approved pathways: Engineering not-for-credit (You do not pay U of T tuition)

Research projects: There are two pathways, divided by program. Students should indicate on their CIE applications which pathway they are following.

1. Engineering: Students apply to CIE by December 3, 2019. After nomination, students should contact ETH Zurich supervisors directly.

2. Summer Research Fellowship in Computer Science Students should submit an application to the CIE before Dec. 3 2019, then apply directly to ETH Zurich before Dec. 15, 2019. Selection is done by ETH Zurich. IE award is not available for admitted students as they receive a full scholarship from the host institution. Note: Instead of getting a transcript from the host university, admitted students must enroll in an Independent Research (or similar) course in the equivalent department at U of T. Accommodation will be provided. Project duration: 1 July – 31 August 2020

Funding: Students nominated to ETH Zurich will receive $3000 and can apply for an additional IE Award.

Housing: On-campus housing is not available.
